Twice in his career, the Slovenian represented Russian clubs, and the last time he did so was quite recently – in 2025, already during the fourth year of the large-scale Russian war against Ukraine, he wore the jerseys of Nizhny Novgorod from Lower Naugard.

Having played several seasons in the Adriatic ABA League, M. Rebec also represented teams such as Ljubljana’s Cedevita Olimpija, Zagreb’s Cibona, Novo Mesto’s Krka, and last season – Podgorica’s SC Derby.

One of the brightest recent seasons for the Slovenian was in 2024-2025 wearing the FMP SoccerBet jersey. In 13 ABA League games, he averaged 17.1 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 rebounds, shooting three-pointers with 38.9% accuracy.

Last season, representing Podgorica’s SC Derby, the point guard averaged 10.6 points and 3.9 assists in 21 ABA League games.

The most important achievement in M. Rebec’s career is the 2017 European Championship title won with the Slovenian national team. The guard was a member of the golden Slovenian team, which also included Luka Dončić and Goran Dragić. In that tournament, M. Rebec played a minor role – he appeared in 4 games, scored 4 points, and collected 4 efficiency points.

One of the leaders of Slovenia’s youth national teams, M. Rebec last wore the national team jersey in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers.

During his career, the Slovenian has also tested his skills in the Spanish ACB League, and in 2022–2023 he played in the EuroCup with Ljubljana’s Cedevita Olimpija.
