For most of the game, the initiative belonged to the Lithuanian team, whose lead at the beginning of the 3rd quarter had grown to as much as 18 points (56:38). However, before the end of the quarter, the Romanians significantly closed the gap and before the fourth quarter, the teams were separated by only 4 points – 62:58.
In the second half of the quarter, the Romanian team managed to take the initiative and take the lead by 3 points – 77:74. However, the Lithuanians quickly reversed the score in their favor with free throws (78:77).
With 16 seconds left to play, the Romanians increased their minimal lead to 3 points with free throws (82:80), and on the other side of the court, Danielius Jasikevičius was stopped by a foul.
The point guard tied the score with his free throws (82:82), and the hosts had 10 seconds for the last attack, which they did not use – the three-pointer thrown was not accurate.
During the overtime, the Lithuanians, who constantly had a small lead, controlled the situation on the court and ultimately won the victory.
