Most airlines do not consider neck pillows as a separate piece of luggage, so passengers can carry them along with their handbag or backpack. However, Wizz Air applies stricter rules – staff may ask to put the pillow into the carry-on luggage and check whether it exceeds the specified dimensions.
The airline’s website states that a neck pillow is not considered a separate free item, so it must fit into the passenger’s cabin baggage.
If you want to take a neck pillow on the plane, it must be packed in your carry-on luggage. If the pillow does not fit into the allowed baggage, it may be considered an extra item subject to the established excess or additional baggage fee, the rules state.
The additional fee can be about 65 euros. Although many passengers claim online that there have been no problems with neck pillows at airports, the application of the rules may depend on the staff working at the boarding gates.

One passenger shared on the social network Reddit that usually staff allow the pillow to be kept separately from the backpack. However, once his friend was asked to put the pillow into the backpack and then measure the baggage. Since the pillow did not fit into the backpack, the passenger had to pay 50 euros.
Therefore, when flying with Wizz Air, it is safest to put the neck pillow into the carry-on luggage before the trip and make sure it meets the airline’s specified size and weight requirements.
