Cargo volumes at Latvian ports fell by 11% in the first half of the year.

During this period, the majority of cargo handled in Latvian ports was bulk cargo – 6.703 million tons, which is 11.1% less than the previous year.

The volume of general cargo handling decreased by 7.7% to 6.087 million tons. Container cargo handling decreased by 6.2% – 2.369 million tons. Meanwhile, the volume of ro-ro cargo handling increased by 3% to 1.677 million tons.

In the first six months of this year, 2.612 million tons of liquid cargo were handled in Latvian ports – 17.6% more. The majority of this was oil products – 2.221 million tons, which is 21.8% less than in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Last year, 34.281 million tons of cargo were handled in Latvian ports, which is 4.8% less than in 2024.
