The plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Baltimore–Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI), where the passenger was arrested, PEOPLE confirmed with the FBI.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed to PEOPLE that the American Airlines plane safely landed at about 10:15 p.m. local time.
