American Airlines told PEOPLE that on Thursday, the company’s 618th flight from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport (NLIA) flew for about two hours when the crew had to deal with a “disruptive passenger.”
The plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Baltimore–Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI), where the passenger was arrested, PEOPLE confirmed with the FBI.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed to PEOPLE that the American Airlines plane safely landed at about 10:15 p.m. local time.

“Upon arrival at the airport, law enforcement officers boarded the plane and helped the passenger disembark, and then the flight continued to its destination,” American Airlines reported.
