One of the main differences of this system from conventional airport parking lots is that travelers can keep their car keys throughout the trip.

Upon returning from the trip, the vehicle is brought by robot to the pick-up point, so the passenger does not have to look for it in a large parking lot. According to Gatwick Airport representatives, the system is suitable for approximately 95% of car models.

Cars are kept in a closed area

The robotic parking lot is located on the airport premises. It is patrolled 24/7 by security guards, and the license plates of incoming and outgoing cars are automatically recognized.

The area is fenced, lit, and inaccessible to unauthorized persons. The parking lot has also been awarded the ‘Park Mark’ rating for safer car parking spaces, used in the United Kingdom.

The airport announces that car transfer garages are adapted for people with disabilities and comply with the requirements of the UK Equality Act. Passengers can walk to the terminal or take an adapted shuttle bus.
