The situation was also commented on by R. Mikelkevičiūtė herself for the portal lnk.lt.

“We were filming a show about whether it is worth deceiving people for a good show. We discussed how the entertainment world works, how scandals are created. The loudly publicized divorce of Oksana Pikul and Dominykas Dirksčius only shows that the line is very unclear,” she told lnk.lt.

She herself was also captured in the scandalous video – however, the journalist admits that she did not see the slap during filming because at that time she was shaking hands with other participants standing on the other side of the show.

“The image looks strange – I ask what happened here, and I give a high five to Rūta (Banionytė – editor’s note). In fact, I only found out about the slap afterwards!” she commented.

Not everyone understood

Under the video, internet users divided into two teams. Some laughed at the situation, others did not understand such behavior at all.

“Am I the only one who doesn’t find this funny?” asked one commenter.

“How unpleasant even to watch. The level…” wrote another.

“Is this normal?! And the other host congratulates for such an action?! Maybe I’m the only one who finds this abnormal?” another raised questions.

“We banned alcohol ads, so now they show violence with applause,” wrote another.

“Since when is it fun and enjoyable to slap faces, and on air too? Later, when children watch such things, it shouldn’t be surprising that they also settle grievances this way… Scary…” reads another comment.

“We have no grievances”

R. Banionytė shared with the portal Žmonės.lt that such her act was just part of the show.

“Yesterday’s show topic was about how, following the latest news in Lithuania, it sometimes becomes completely unclear where the truth is and where the show is.

This situation with Paulius was staged – it was like an illustration of the topic. Paulius and I have no real grievances against each other in real life. I myself felt a bit uncomfortable doing it, but what wouldn’t you do for a good show for the viewers,” the woman commented to Žmonės.lt.
