At the start of the competition, I felt completely healthy and in good shape, with no reason to expect illness. Looking back, I regret the decision not to withdraw from the course. I admit that I should have chosen differently. I take responsibility for my decision to continue the event and sincerely apologize for the discomfort and disruption caused.

I know that my actions had consequences not only for myself, so I sincerely apologize to everyone affected. I am learning from this experience and will take lessons from it, including that there are more important things in life than races and that one must know when to withdraw. After considering the situation, I decided to retroactively withdraw from the race and forfeit the points earned.

Thank you to those who currently support me both as an athlete and as a person, and to everyone who reached out with kindness and support. It means more to me than I can properly express right now. I will take some time to recover, reflect, and take care of myself and my family away from all the noise.

With love, Joanna,” the athlete wrote.

Žmonės.lt reminds that Hyrox is an increasingly popular physical fitness competition discipline, started in Germany in 2017. Currently, competitions are held in various parts of the world. In mainland China, they were held for the first time at the end of 2024, writes The Guardian.

In each competition, participants alternate running one kilometer and performing physical fitness exercises at common high-intensity stations. Among them are rowing machines, sled pushing, jump exercises, medicine ball throws, and lunges carrying a sandbag.

Even before the incident that occurred this weekend, the official competition rules provided penalties for even minor violations, such as littering on the course, spitting, or blowing and expelling contents from the nose onto the floor. However, there was no specific immediate procedure outlined for cases of feces contamination.
