“It was the day when aviation theory became a very strong and frightening practice for me… I fly a lot, I have seen everything, but today’s Ryanair flight from Bologna to Alicante will be remembered for a long time. It all started in Italy, where the takeoff was delayed by almost 3 hours due to a storm. When we finally took off, the turbulence was so strong that even the flight attendants were forbidden to stand up from their seats for half an hour. And we were still sitting in row 25 – at the very tail of the plane, where you feel the shaking and the roar of the engines the most!” – they began their post.

However, the woman emphasized that the real adrenaline awaited in Spain, in Alicante.

“Approaching the ground from the continent side – lightning and storm all around. Just moments before the runway, the engines suddenly started roaring at full power, pressing the body into the seat and we shot straight back up! That feeling when your stomach tightens from fear… It was my first ever go-around (aborted landing). It turns out that due to gusty winds, it was simply unsafe to land from that side on the tail.

The pilots acted perfectly – they did not take risks, went around for a second circle, turned the plane over the sea, and successfully landed us from the other side – directly against the wind. When the wheels finally touched the ground, tears just poured out of me from the tension built up over those few hours.

The fear of flying did not appear, but today I got live proof of how professional the pilot system is. They will do everything to keep us safe – even if it means experiencing a few minutes of horror. I am already safe, drinking tea and trying to get my heart back in place.

Has anyone of you ever experienced that sudden climb back into the sky just before landing? How did you manage your emotions?” – wrote the founders of the brand “TADO’s fashion.”

Ryanair’s comment

Žmonės.lt also contacted Ryanair representatives regarding the situation.

“The crew of this flight from Bologna to Alicante (September 10) performed a standard go-around maneuver due to the strength and direction of the wind at Alicante airport, and then successfully landed on the second attempt,” a spokesperson for the airline told Žmonės.lt.
