„We have to admit that over the next few years, or maybe even a couple of decades, we will be involved in a war. It could be a very hot war – like the one [happening] now – it could be a creeping war, even if it spreads to other regions; we will have two generations that can be considered practically at war. According to I. Sechin’s advisor, Russia is now “on the hump of the First World War,” and in the future there will be another “hump,” like during the “First and Second World Wars.” “What happened in Iran proves that the hegemon is no longer a hegemon, but the clash will still happen. Probably in Asia,” said A. Bezrukov, quoted by The Moscow Times.
He also recalled the propaganda claim about a “biological war” that the West allegedly waged against Russia: “All these laboratories around us were not just to consume the budget. They were producing weapons of the future. These… technologies allow the creation of viruses that will destroy us all.”
A. Bezrukov urged the state system and economy to be developed so that they “carry out not only development but also defense tasks.”
Who is Bezrukov
A. Bezrukov is a Soviet and Russian spy, a retired SVR colonel, who lived abroad since the 1980s as Donald Heathfield. In 2010, he was arrested by the FBI along with his wife Elena Vavilova (also a spy) and eight other “illegal agents.” Later, they were deported to Russia together with their children.
A. Bezrukov is a professor at MGIMO’s Department of Applied International Problems Analysis, a member of the Foreign and Defense Policy Council, and regularly gives lectures in which he tells students and future officials about the necessity of patriotism and the upcoming “economic world restructuring.”
