“The focus is on loan measures so that companies can pay less now, and then by 2030, when we have the entire renewable energy portfolio, those costs can be compensated. Basically, the goal is appropriate and good, but I think there will be more discussions in the Parliament,” Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas told journalists on Wednesday.

“The most important thing is, if the industry views this initiative positively, then I think it should be supported,” he added.
“This measure is more focused on a short-term solution, such as partially reducing network costs, but then the loan needs to be repaid,” the minister explained.
The President proposes in the amendments to the Energy Law that the Government temporarily reduce by up to 30% the state-regulated electricity price infrastructure component for non-household consumers.

It is estimated that about 50 million euros per year would be needed for such compensations.
According to the President, it would be rational to apply this temporary measure for up to five years (until 2031) to companies whose allowable power usage exceeds 500 kilowatts (kW) or that actually consume more than 500 thousand kWh of electricity per year.
Companies should repay the state’s arrears within a maximum of seven years – by 2038.
