Several members of the Israeli cabinet spoke about plans to relocate all 2 million people from the war-torn Gaza Strip, although they usually describe this initiative as voluntary, claiming that Palestinians want to leave but are hindered by the militant group Hamas.
Mr. Saar spoke at a press conference in Ljubljana ahead of the opening of the Israeli embassy there, as nationalist Prime Minister Janez Janša’s Slovenia seeks to reset diplomatic relations with Israel.
Mr. Saar thanked Slovenia for its friendship and for “supporting Israel when it matters.”

“An embassy is more than a flag on a building. It is an investment in relations and a commitment to their future. And that is exactly what we plan to do together,” said Mr. Saar.
“Israel remembers its friends. Since you were with us, we will be with you,” he said.
The opening of the Israeli embassy in Ljubljana marks a dramatic departure from the policy pursued by the previous center-left government – one of the most critical voices in the European Union (EU) regarding Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
