“They were conducting fraudulent activities in a call center located (…) in a residential neighborhood on the outskirts of Islamabad,” a representative of Pakistan’s intelligence agency – the Federal Investigation Agency – told the news agency AFP.

“They came to Pakistan on tourist visas and were not authorized to engage in such activities,” he said.
The detainees, among whom are 170 Vietnamese citizens, as well as residents of Malaysia and other Asian countries, are currently held in Ravalpindi prison.
According to the official, the relevant embassies have been informed about the incident, and more detailed information about the charges against the detainees will be released in the coming days as the investigation continues.
According to the official, one possible scenario is the deportation of the involved individuals.
Media reports indicate that the foreigners were detained last week.
The news agency AFP contacted China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment on the incident.
A similar raid was conducted in Pakistan in July 2025. At that time, 149 people were detained on suspicion of working in a “large call center involved in Ponzi schemes and investment fraud,” of whom 71 were foreigners, mostly Chinese citizens.
