“They came to Pakistan on tourist visas and were not authorized to engage in such activities,” he said.

The detainees, among whom are 170 Vietnamese citizens, as well as residents of Malaysia and other Asian countries, are currently held in Ravalpindi prison.

Media reports indicate that the foreigners were detained last week.

The news agency AFP contacted China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment on the incident.

A similar raid was conducted in Pakistan in July 2025. At that time, 149 people were detained on suspicion of working in a “large call center involved in Ponzi schemes and investment fraud,” of whom 71 were foreigners, mostly Chinese citizens.
