“Are you fighting against those work heroes who supply you with water? Just think for a minute what will happen if ‘Vodokanal’ decides to stop supplying water? Our water source is of very poor quality. And we can stop work at any moment, and 40% of the city will be left without water. Can you imagine what kind of hell life could turn into,” she said in a video message on her VKontakte page.
After such words, response videos and residents’ comments poured in.
“Kapec, the city stinks, the water stinks, the city is drowning, and here are also threats,” residents reacted on social networks, demanding the dismissal of I. Ajdanova. She deleted the video, and then Olga Sarbayeva, General Director of “Rosvodokanal Tyumen,” apologized for the employee’s words and announced that I. Ajdanova’s statement “does not reflect the official position of ‘Vodokanal’.”
The head of the institution also assured that disciplinary action would be taken against I. Ajdanova and promised to “do everything to ensure that the sanitary-epidemiological situation in the region remains stable and that there are no water shutdowns.”
What problems arose?
Meanwhile, Tyumen residents published the results of independent water sample tests. As can be seen from the conclusion, despite the authorities’ claims, the water does not meet sanitary standards.

Violations were found in odor, taste, turbidity, pH, manganese, aluminum, and iron concentration. The test results were sent to the “Rospotrebnadzor” service and the prosecutor’s office. The initiative group stated that inspections will be expanded, and their results will be used to file claims, make recalculations, and submit lawsuits.
The authorities claim that the cause of the water quality deterioration was flooding and the overflow of the Tura River due to heavy rains.
Tyumen Governor Alexander Moor announced a regional state of emergency in Tyumen and its surroundings on July 28. Earlier, he explained that due to the flood, organic materials were washed into the Tura from fields and swamps, causing massive fish deaths. According to authorities, a ton of dead fish was collected in Tyumen over the past two days.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for violation of water supply quality.
