As BNS reported, in mid-July, a minor girl was beaten by peers in Marijampolė, Poezijos Park.
People nearby observed and filmed the incident, and the video spread on social networks that same evening.
However, the Deputy Commissioner General of Police noted that minors involved in the incident cannot be held criminally liable due to their age, but other measures of influence may be applied to them, and responsibility may fall on their parents.
In turn, M. Draudvila emphasized that police data does not show that juvenile delinquency in the country is increasing in the long term.

“Looking at the long-term trend, such incidents, where minors become suspects, are decreasing, not increasing,” said the police representative.
According to him, comparing the first halves of 2026 and 2025, juvenile delinquency decreased by about 10%, and minors constitute about 4% of all suspects.
According to M. Draudvila, the most common offenders are boys attending school, and the main reasons can be various – from long-term bullying to other conflicts. According to him, the greatest attention should be paid to prevention in families and schools, as the police usually get involved only after a criminal act.
