Although his health condition was complicated, according to V. Mačiulis, he did not feel any strong symptoms, but recently he was constantly accompanied by weakness.
“I walk the dog, someone calls me, I talk and it’s like I’m short of breath, like something’s a little off. I live on the second floor, I started climbing to the second floor – no strength. And what scared me the most, which never happened before – I see that my legs are swollen.
I thought maybe I walked a lot, but they swelled badly, started to constrict my calves. So I got a referral to the Cardiology Clinic. I arrived, the doctor looked at me and said: “Tomorrow you have to be in the cardiology hospital, we’ll do an ultrasound, don’t be afraid, everything will be fine,” V. Mačiulis told Žmonės.lt.
Only upon arriving at the clinics did it become clear that he urgently needed heart stenting.
“I came yesterday, and today they inserted three stents. They said that the main blood vessel was 95 percent blocked. The doctor was surprised how I worked, lived… and I didn’t feel any pain, just that weakness,” V. Mačiulis recalled.

According to him, the condition was indeed complicated, as doctors stated that his heart could have stopped if he had gotten nervous or lifted a heavy object.
“His heart would have ruptured, they said it could have happened any minute…”, V. Mačiulis said.
When asked if the procedure was painful, the journalist assured that it was not.
“I just felt something move. But absolutely nothing hurt while all three stents were being inserted. Just like now nothing hurts, but now I have to lie in intensive care whether I want to or not,” V. Mačiulis told Žmonės.lt.
However, the well-known man admitted that he was nervous before the procedure.
“Although I’m not afraid, there was unease in my heart…”, the journalist stated.
He revealed to the portal Žmonės.lt that he should be discharged from the hospital on Monday, after which rehabilitation awaits.
