Russia has recently intensified its bombing of Ukraine, and since the beginning of the month, dozens of people have died from Moscow’s missile strikes, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Kyiv has also intensified retaliatory strikes against Russia.
Russian border areas have been experiencing strikes since Moscow’s offensive began in February 2022.
In the Russian city of Shebekino, located less than five kilometers from the Ukrainian border, a Ukrainian drone “deliberately and cynically struck a passenger bus,” wrote Alexander Shuvayev, the acting governor of Russia’s Belgorod region, on social media.
“As a result of this inhumane and vile attack, five innocent civilians were killed, including a minor (…) In addition, 23 civilians were injured, including a teenager,” he added.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, two people were killed in Russian strikes in the eastern cities of Pavlohrad and Kramatorsk, and four more people died in Russian bombings in the southern Ukrainian regions of Odesa and Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian officials reported.
Earlier on Monday, Ukraine launched dozens of drones into the Moscow region, where fires broke out and at least 10 people were injured, Russia said.
Both Russia and Ukraine, which deny targeting civilians, have been continuously striking each other in recent months, while US-led negotiations to end the nearly four-and-a-half-year conflict remain stalled.
According to United Nations data, more civilians were killed in Ukraine in June than in any other month since April 2022.
