The exhibition “Resorts in Klaipėda until 1939”, which will be displayed in Danė Square from July 22, continues the museum’s initiated theme about the history of seaside leisure culture, intriguing with the similarities and differences between past and present lifestyles, encouraging the remembrance of the fragile beauty of the interwar period.

On July 23, at Smiltynė near the “Albatrosas” monument, the traditional sailors’ tribute ceremony “To those who opened the sea for Lithuania” will take place, organized together with the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority. The maritime community will gather here, the flags of the Republic of Lithuania, Klaipėda, and Kopgalis will be raised, and distinguished sea and port workers will be awarded.
One of the most prominent parts of the program is the traditional and historical ships parade “Dangė flotilla”, held for the fifteenth time, dedicated this year to the centenary of Lithuanian maritime sailing and accompanied by the slogan “Let it blow!”. Romualdas Adomavičius, captain of the flotilla and museum canoe “SüD.1”, says this year’s theme – sailing and winds – will connect the origins of professional maritime sailing, the sailing traditions of the Klaipėda region, maritime heritage, and people united by sails and water.
In Klaipėda, the ships will be welcomed and the parade commented on by Edita Mildažytė and Saulius Pilinkus. The flotilla will sail into the Danė on Friday evening, symbolically rising at the Castle Bridge, with a solemn ship reception between the Castle and Biržai bridges. The ships will arrive decorated with greenery – provided by the long-time flotilla partner – the Curonian Spit National Park.
On July 24–25, near the Fisherman sculpture, the educational space “Wind! Wind! Wind!” will be active. It will feature meetings with young sailors, maritime education, the “Memel Privateers” program “Crew’s hardships and joys” with traditional maritime food, introductions to daily crew tasks, and sailors’ superstitions.
On Saturday, near the Fisherman monument, the “Dangė flotilla” crews will be presented, awards for the traditional and historical ships regatta “Burpilis” will be given, and in the evening, visitors will be able to visit the old flotilla ships.

The evening will continue with night dances with the Klaipėda City Municipality Ethnoculture Center folklore group “Alka”, and later the night traditional historical ships parade “Night Sails” and the theatrical “Memel Privateers” performance “Unrest in Danė” will light up Danė.
The old ships will leave Klaipėda on Sunday morning, while the city is still resting: the Castle Bridge will rise once more to bid farewell to the “Dangė flotilla” ships on their new routes.

During the Sea Festival, visitors will also enjoy the Lithuanian Sea Museum exhibitions and aquarium, dolphin and California sea lion shows, and on the Danė embankment, it will be possible to visit the ship-museum M52 “Sūduvis”, whose working hours during the festival days will be extended until 10 PM.
