„Regitra“ warns those who have bought cars with funds from the II pension pillar

In July, after the second payment of the II pension pillar funds, residents rushed to update their cars. This resulted in increased customer flows in the country’s major branches. In response to the temporarily increased customer flows, “Regitra” invites you to use electronic services whenever possible.

Increased number of registrations

Every spring, an increase in car registrations is observed, but this year in April and July it became exceptional due to the II pension pillar funds. Significantly larger customer flows are noticeable both after the first and second payment stages. In the second quarter of this year, the registration flow has increased by almost 20% compared to the same period last year.

“Regitra” constantly monitors expert forecasts and prepared in advance for the increased customer flow. Even before residents received their money back, we conducted an information campaign in the public space with tips on how to successfully purchase a car and then easily register it online. Additionally, we implemented integrations with the autoplius.lt and autogidas.lt car portals to make the customer journey as smooth and simple as possible.

Also, seeing the significantly increased flows during this period, employees work extra hours, for example, serving business clients on Saturdays instead of a day off, so that on working days they can focus their attention on all those registering for a specific appointment time and those coming to the live queue.

Many services can be done online

It is important to mention that a large part of the services can be obtained online while at home or another convenient place. It is possible to register a car previously registered in Lithuania remotely, change the registration certificate, order number plates, or change the driver’s license.

What steps to take after purchasing a car?

We also remind that if clients have questions about services or electronic service steps, information center colleagues are happy to consult. We invite you to call: +370 700 55 151 or +370 5 210 5164

After purchasing a vehicle, everything happens in two separate stages. First, you must declare the car in your name and receive a new owner declaration code (SDK). Then the seller must confirm the information indicated in the declaration. After the buyer and seller complete these steps, the ownership change is recorded.
The second step is to register the car in your name. This is necessary to participate safely and legally in traffic. It must be done no later than 10 calendar days, otherwise the car will be deregistered.

Both steps can be done online by the car buyer here.

If you purchase a vehicle not yet registered in Lithuania, you will always need to visit a branch for vehicle identity verification. When going to the branch, we always recommend booking a convenient time online in advance to avoid waiting in line.
