According to Viktorija Marcinkevičė, a makeup teacher and makeup artist at the King Mindaugas Vocational Training Center, the most important thing in makeup today is healthy-looking skin, light textures, and harmoniously matching colors, according to a press release.

“Modern summer makeup focuses on natural beauty. We aim not to mask the face but to highlight its most beautiful features. This requires not only the right choice of colors but also properly prepared skin – even the highest quality products will not look good if the skin is dry or neglected,” says V. Marcinkevičė.

According to the specialist, the first step should always be skin preparation – moisturizing and gentle exfoliation. Only then do makeup products spread evenly, look light, and last longer. She recommends layering makeup products sparingly – working in thin layers so that the skin remains light, fresh, and naturally glowing.
This year’s makeup trends are dominated by creamy textures, subtle glow, the so-called “glow” effect, and more generous use of blush. Blush becomes the main facial accent, overshadowing strong contouring. Instead of sharply modeled facial lines, naturally looking color transitions and subtly glowing satin textures are chosen.
“Blush often becomes the main accent today. It gives the face liveliness and freshness, while dark, strong contouring is increasingly falling out of trends. It is also no longer fashionable to heavily set makeup with dry products – the skin should look fresh and naturally glowing,” notes the makeup artist.

Naturalness also prevails in eye and eyebrow makeup. Black eyeliner or dark shadows are increasingly replaced by various shades of brown, giving the gaze softness. Graphically drawn eyebrows are also abandoned – now the aim is to maintain their natural shape and texture. The specialist recommends highlighting only those areas where hair is missing with color, and finishing the natural effect with eyebrow gel, which adds volume and helps maintain the shape all day.
Changes are also visible in lip makeup. Matte lipsticks are replaced by creamy formulas, lip oils, and glosses, while bright “ombre” effects give way to more natural color transitions.
According to V. Marcinkevičė, the most important thing is to maintain harmony throughout the look – so that colors match each other, lines are softly retouched, and the makeup looks light, fresh, and does not weigh down the face.
“I often notice that women still choose heavier foundations, strong contouring, overly bright eyebrows, or contrasting eye makeup, although today’s prevailing trends focus on lightness and naturalness. Therefore, when teaching future makeup artists at the King Mindaugas Vocational Training Center, I pay a lot of attention not only to techniques but also to the ability to assess each person’s individual features and create a modern, harmonious look,” says V. Marcinkevičė.
