An informed source told BBC Ukraine about this. It is noted that in the video released by the Ukrainian presidency from the tour of St. Sophia Cathedral, it can be seen that Volodymyr Zelensky spent more time specifically with J. Kushner.
“It happened organically because J. Kushner and V. Zelensky have similar types. J. Kushner constantly has a lot of papers, maps, plans, he is pragmatic. Meanwhile, S. Witkoff is more like David [Arachamia], because his approach is: ‘Let’s sit down for dinner at a restaurant and talk,'” the anonymous interlocutor is quoted as saying.
However, the video shows that S. Witkoff spent more time during the tour with the head of military intelligence Kyrylo Budanov, not with D. Arachamia.
On September 5, S. Witkoff and J. Kushner visited Moscow, where they negotiated with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. On September 6, special US President D. Trump’s envoys arrived in Ukraine for the first time to participate in negotiations to end the war.

During the visit to Kyiv, J. Kushner stated that President D. Trump aims not only to end Russia’s war against Ukraine but also to ensure long-term peace. According to Kyiv Independent, D. Trump may speak on the phone with V. Putin after being informed about the results of the envoys’ negotiations in Moscow and Kyiv.
In turn, analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) concluded that after the envoys’ visits, it became clear that V. Putin does not intend to make any fundamental compromises in negotiations to end the war, and his real demands include much more than just the entire Donetsk region.
