V. Zelensky will meet with D. Trump on the same day as the funeral of the late US Senator Lindsey Graham – a strong supporter of Ukraine – in Washington.
Kyiv has not yet confirmed either V. Zelensky’s meeting with D. Trump or whether he will attend L. Graham’s funeral.
V. Zelensky said this week that he had spoken with D. Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner in an effort to revive stalled talks to end the four-and-a-half-year war.
US-led talks to resolve the conflict have been stalled since Washington’s attention shifted to the war with Iran. On the same day as the scheduled meeting with V. Zelensky, D. Trump will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The relationship between D. Trump and V. Zelensky is not simple – they openly argued in the Oval Office in February 2025, but their communication has become warmer in recent months.

This week, the Ukrainian leader met with right-wing American opinion leader and D. Trump ally Laura Loomer, which can be seen as another sign of warming relations.
The 33-year-old ultra-conservative commentator, who has millions of followers online, recently abandoned her anti-Ukraine stance and began supporting its resistance to the Russian invasion launched in 2022.
“This is everyday life for every Ukrainian, I feel so stupid for having belittled the Ukrainian struggle for the past five years,” she described the air raid she experienced in Kyiv.
D. Trump shared one of L. Loomer’s social media posts about her meeting with V. Zelensky on Thursday with the caption: “Very good!!!”
