In August 2026, 16,766 used passenger cars (M1 and N1) were registered in the country for the first time, i.e. 20.1% more than in August 2025 (13,957 units).
TOP3: BMW, “Volkswagen”, “Audi”
Last month, passenger cars (M1) accounted for 16,009 units, and light commercial vehicles (N1) – 757 units. In August, the most registered cars in the country were BMW (2,120 units), Volkswagen (1,874), and Audi (1,307) brands.
Most popular models
Among the models, the leaders were the BMW 3 Series (486 units), BMW 5 Series (463), and Peugeot 3008 (380). The average age of used cars registered for the first time in Lithuania was 10.0 years. The share of diesel cars was 57.2% (August 2025 – 62.6%).
Last month, 21,269 used passenger car ownership transfer operations were performed in Lithuania, i.e. 10.9% more than in August 2025 (19,181). There were 20,657 ownership transfer operations for passenger cars (M1) and 612 for light commercial vehicles (N1).

In August, ownership was most often transferred for Volkswagen (3,232 units), BMW (2,719), and Toyota (2,500) cars. The most common ownership transfer operations were for BMW 3 Series (876 units), Volkswagen Passat (868), and BMW 5 Series (794) models.
The average age of used cars that changed owners was 14.0 years.
8-month statistics
From January to August 2026, 124,523 used passenger cars were registered for the first time in Lithuania, i.e. 11.7% more than in the corresponding period of 2025 (111,487). Their average age was 10.5 years. The share of diesel cars was 59.4% (2025 – 64.3%).
In the first eight months of 2026, 166,424 used passenger car ownership transfer operations were performed in the country, i.e. 14.0% more than in the corresponding period of 2025 (145,925). The average age of cars that changed owners this year was 14.3 years.
