Had to operate at a loss for a while
The representative of “Hap’s Kebab’s” stated in a post published on Facebook that a year ago they signed a contract with Bolt Food, under which the restaurant was charged a 20% commission fee. According to him, they had not previously collaborated with the Bolt Food platform precisely because of the high commission fees, but after receiving a more favorable offer, the contract was signed.

However, according to the restaurant, about half a year later the commission fee was unilaterally increased to 33%, and the company itself only found out about this a few months later while checking invoices.
“After half a year (the fee – 15min) was unilaterally increased to 33% and they also added the ‘Bolt plus’ program for which we pay extra. We noticed this change after another half a year. This means we are operating at a loss,” the publicly posted statement reads.

The restaurant contacted Bolt Food, but the platform explained that information about the changes was sent by email, and since no objection was received, it was assumed that the partner agreed to the new terms.

However, the restaurant’s representative claimed that the contract stipulated a different notification procedure – allegedly, Bolt was supposed to receive a confirmation of receipt, which, according to him, did not happen.
“This is not a dispute over a few percent. Small businesses cannot check every day whether essential contract terms have been unilaterally changed. When the commission fee is increased by more than 60%, this is not an insignificant change – it is a decision that can determine whether the business will be profitable or incur losses. In my opinion, such a cooperation model does not comply with the principles of fair business,” the post states.
