Explosions were heard in several districts of Taganrog. Local residents reported hearing drones flying over the city and explosions near the port and aviation factory.

Later, R. Slyusaris confirmed that the attack indeed took place. He reported that “a fire broke out in the port area, involving a tanker, fuel depot, and administrative building,” and added that there were no casualties.

He also stated that Russian air defense forces shot down drones over Taganrog, as well as over the districts of Chertkovo, Matveyev Kurgan, and Neklinovsky.

On the same night, an oil base belonging to the company Yuzhnaya Neftyanaya Kompaniya in the city of Armavir, located in Russia’s Krasnodar region, was also attacked. The extent of damage at this facility is currently unknown.

10:49

Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine on the night of May 29 to 30, using an Iskander-M ballistic missile, six Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 290 various types of unmanned aerial vehicles – Shahed (including jet-powered), Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya swarm drones.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

Preliminary data indicates that by 9 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 284 air targets using electronic warfare means. Among them were five Kh-101 missiles and 279 various types of drones – Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other unmanned aerial vehicles operating in the north, south, center, and east of the country.

It is reported that nine drones hit targets in seven locations. Debris from downed air targets fell in ten places.

Additionally, two Russian missiles – one cruise and one ballistic – did not reach their targets. Information about their fate is still being clarified.

The attack was repelled using Ukrainian Air Force aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare means, drone system units, and mobile fire groups.

The Ukrainian Air Force noted that the attack was not yet completely over, as some Russian drones were still in Ukrainian airspace.

Putin denies Russia’s responsibility for drone that fell in Romania

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that it is too early to say that the drone that fell in Romania was Russian.

He said this amid outrage in Europe over the incident.

The accident occurred on the night from Thursday to Friday, injuring two people and causing a fire, Romanian officials reported. Romania claimed the drone was Russian, and NATO countries condemned Russia.

“Just before entering this room, I learned that something happened with an alleged Russian drone,” Putin said at a press conference in the Kazakh capital Astana.

“No one can say the origin of this or that aircraft until an expert examination of the aircraft is carried out,” he said.

“If they provide us with any objective data (…) then we will assess what happened,” the Russian leader said.

Responding to accusations from Romania and its NATO allies, Putin said that “Russia has never threatened and does not threaten European countries.”

Putin said European countries seek “to continue confrontation with Russia and justify huge expenditures from their state budgets.”

The Russian ambassador to Romania was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where he was informed that the Russian general consul in the city of Constanta would be expelled from the country and the consulate closed, the Russian embassy reported in a Telegram message.

“No explanation was given as to how Romanian experts determined the drone’s affiliation,” the embassy said, accusing Ukraine of a “new provocation” aimed at “dragging NATO into war against Russia by all means.”

Since the start of the Russian conflict with Ukraine in 2022, drone incursions into Romania have been recorded dozens of times, but Friday’s strike was the first time a residential building was affected in the country.
