This step was taken amid a major government reshuffle and a planned broader rotation of Ukrainian ambassadors.
There have been rumors since mid-July that O. Stefanišyna might leave her post, when an unexpected government reshuffle began.
One person close to O. Stefanišyna told the Kyiv Independent portal that she decided to leave the post “of her own accord”.
However, another source familiar with the government reshuffle said that plans to reorganize the government were prepared before O. Stefanišyna allegedly made such a decision.
V. Zelensky initially planned to appoint recently dismissed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States. However, she rejected this offer, delivering an unexpected blow to the presidential administration’s plans.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors about O. Stefanišyna that she may face criminal charges, the portal writes.
According to its data, she allegedly appears in an investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau regarding suspected violations related to the Property Recovery and Management Agency, although no official charges have yet been filed against her.
Ukrainian media previously reported that companies associated with her former husband had received contracts for managing confiscated property. In addition, in 2019 she was charged in another embezzlement case.
V. Zelensky did not specify the reason for O. Stefanišyna’s dismissal and has not yet announced who will replace her.
