While visiting Kazakhstan, the Russian leader said at a press conference that European countries seek to “continue confrontation with Russia and justify huge expenses from their state budgets.”
He spoke after a drone hit an apartment building in NATO member Romania early Friday morning.
Two people were injured in the incident, and the Alliance and the European Union (EU) condemned the event, blaming Russia and warning of further incursions.
Romania called this incident—the first drone crash in a residential building outside Ukraine since the start of Russia’s large-scale invasion in 2022—a “serious and reckless escalation by Moscow.”
