On Thursday, the first participants of the European Autocross Championship began to gather at the Vilkyčiai motorsport complex located in the Šilutė district.
Some athletes arrived in Lithuania directly from Latvia, where the second stage of the season was held last weekend. This weekend, the third European Championship meeting awaits them in Vilkyčiai.
Since Thursday morning, the opened participants’ park gradually filled with team equipment, service areas, and sports cars.
By noon, a dozen teams had already settled here, and their numbers will only increase as the weekend approaches. More than 80 athletes are registered in the European Championship classes this year, joined by participants from the national standings.
All teams had reserved their spots in the participants’ park in advance. Some settled closer to the start zone, others chose spots near the domestic infrastructure, and some teams parked their equipment and campers near the Veiviržas river.
The first day of arrival is dedicated to preparation and rest for the teams. Official procedures will begin on Friday when participants will have to pass the administrative commission and technical inspection.
At that time, mechanics will be able to perform the final technical preparation work before the race. For the first time, engines will roar on the track on Saturday morning, when training begins.
As the race weekend approaches, organizers are completing the final preparations for the track and infrastructure. Over the year, many updates have been made to the complex, which should improve the experience for both participants and spectators.

“Every year we try to update and improve something at the Vilkyčiai motorsport complex. This year, new asphalt was laid, some barriers were replaced, and a lift adapted for disabled people was installed in the race control center.
