“We haven’t talked for a while. Maybe about 15 years ago, because after that misfortune, after the stroke, she withdrew from active work and only occasionally appeared in the media, filmed or photographed. But I had to communicate with her son from time to time, so we would exchange a few words about mom’s health,” A.Valinskas told Žmonės.lt.

He said that he used to meet K.Prunskienė often in the corridors of the Seimas when she was the Speaker of the Seimas.

“We definitely were not comrades-in-arms, because she had different views than I did, but I had to communicate with her as a colleague. She was someone who knew how and could work,” said the TV producer.

When asked how he would remember the politician, A.Valinskas did not spare kind words.

“Very warmly. One thing – she was definitely very demanding. She would not fit in with the current generation of politicians, whose main value is to talk as much and about anything as possible. But she was of the old generation, who felt responsible for every word spoken, every promise made, or action taken. It is no coincidence that she had a very beautiful nickname in the world, ‘The Amber Lady.’ Such nicknames come from respect,” A.Valinskas told Žmonės.lt.

He recalled that he met K.Prunskienė not only in political circles but also behind the scenes in the entertainment world.

“We once organized a game called ‘6 zeros – a million.’ And we invited candidates running for president to participate. Usually, politicians often distanced themselves from such things, saying: ‘Oh no, that’s not really for me.’ But she was not afraid, she came, and although she did not do very well there, even seeing that this could happen, she was not afraid to come. She was very brave. And her first premiership was related to those times when it really took a lot of courage to take such a post. And she had that courage all her life,” A.Valinskas spoke warmly.

Many also remember how K.Prunskienė took the stage at the “Golden Onions” alongside performer Gytis Paškevičius.

“I think it was in the 2000s and the ‘Golden Onions’ took place in the current Congress Hall, in the still unrestored hall. She sang with Gytis Paškevičius, it seems, the song ‘Dalužė,’” A.Valinskas concluded the conversation with Žmonės.lt and assured that persuading K.Prunskienė to participate in this show was not difficult, as she was a brave and free person.
