The singer himself says that he feels a constant need to change, which is why he seeks new sounds in his work, and will perform on the coast with an acoustic program, which, according to the musician, always leaves a unique impression, as it creates a closer connection with the audience and allows the songs to sound more sensitive and intimate.
Just recently, Vaidas Baumila returned from Stockholm, where he attended one of this year’s most prominent global tours – a concert by Bad Bunny, who hails from Puerto Rico. Vaidas does not hide that the impressions he brought back are nothing but the best, as such trips provide a unique opportunity to both draw inspiration and see how world-class artists present their culture and its identity on stage.
“It was a fun party. I really liked how he incorporates Puerto Rican folk accents into his performances, how he represents his country and is its true ambassador. This is reflected in his attire, music, and the overall mood of the concert. Although I didn’t understand anything, as the songs are performed in Spanish, I certainly had a great time,” Vaidas shares his memories.
Although Vaidas primarily tries to enjoy the music when attending other artists’ concerts as a spectator, he admits that his eyes also wander to the stage details. The singer asserts that he cannot lose sight of his profession, constantly observing how world-class performances are created. According to Vaidas, this inspires him with new ideas, song creation, and visions for future concerts.
“I won’t lie, that professional habit kicks in. I always observe how the stage is set up, what lighting is chosen, what scenography is performed, and what could be used in my own concerts. Generally, I listen to a lot of different music, actively follow what’s happening in the world, and this has a big influence on me. I think such a process is completely natural, because everything you see and hear, one way or another, later reflects in your creative work. So when people ask me what inspires me the most, I answer simply – life,” Vaidas reveals.
Just a few weeks ago, Vaidas presented his latest work “Kas yra?” (What is it?), in which a slightly different creative sound of the artist can be heard. The singer himself does not hide that it is extremely important for him not to get stuck in one place, which is why constant searching and the desire to try something new are an inseparable part of his creative process.
“First and foremost, I do everything for myself. I always want to reinvent myself, grow, and not be boring to myself. That’s where the searching, experiments, and curiosity come from. And when you are interesting to yourself and not afraid to look for new sounds, then you become more interesting to your listeners,” the singer is convinced.
From August 12-16, the “Palanga Park Evenings” series of musical events will take place on the terrace of the Palanga Amber Museum, featuring Merūnas Vitulskis, Paulina Paukštaitytė, Angelou, “8 kambarys” (8th room), and, of course, Vaidas Baumila, who will close this five-day festival. The singer says that acoustic format concerts differ from large arena performances not only in sound but also in atmosphere. It is here that more space emerges for live interaction, improvisation, and a closer connection with the audience.
“Acoustic and arena concerts are completely different genres. In acoustic ones, you are much closer to the audience: more pauses, conversations, various interludes, interaction. There is significantly more freedom in them, and the atmosphere itself is more sensitive. Therefore, I am sure that acoustic concerts are unique and leave a completely different impression every time,” Vaidas asserts.
Although Žolinės (Assumption Day) in Lithuania is traditionally celebrated with families and associated with family gatherings, Vaidas reveals that he more often meets his relatives during Mindaugines (Coronation of King Mindaugas). Other calendar holidays pass for him while performing concerts, so this year he invites his fans to spend the Žolinės weekend differently – to meet in Palanga and together enjoy a cozy evening against the backdrop of acoustic music.
“Until now, Žolinės hasn’t been a special day for me, unless I’ve forgotten some traditions in the depths of my memory. Usually, all holidays – Christmas, New Year, Joninės (St. John’s Day), or Žolinės – are associated with concert activities, but this summer I already managed to rest by the sea, so now all that’s left is to return here with music. If you want to end the Žolinės weekend by the sea cozily, cheerfully, and with a light dose of humor, I invite everyone to meet in Palanga on August 16,” Vaidas urges.
One of the partners of the “Palanga Park Evenings” series of musical events – “Čiki Puki Monciškės” – notes that the Lithuanian seaside has recently become not just a summer holiday destination, as more and more people are choosing the country’s resorts as a place for permanent living or a second home. According to them, it is precisely because of the unique atmosphere, proximity to nature, and growing cultural offerings that the seaside becomes attractive all year round, leading people to choose to invest in their own holiday homes, to which they can return at any time of the year.
“The myth that the seaside is only alive in summer is still prevalent, but the reality has long been different. People want to have their own place here, where they can escape for a weekend in autumn, or for a few days in winter or spring. We notice that holidaymakers are increasingly abandoning the idea of renting accommodation every time and instead choose to purchase their own holiday homes. This gives them the freedom to spontaneously come to the sea at any time of the year and enjoy a completely different rhythm of the seaside – calmer, more authentic, and no less attractive than in summer,” says Aurimas Dailydė, the builder of “Čiki Puki Monciškės”.
