Vacationing in Turkey with "all inclusive" for the first time? Tourists later regret these 10 mistakes

After analyzing the most common travelers’ impressions, it turned out that newcomers almost always make the same mistakes.

Although they are not critical, it is these little details that often spoil the overall holiday experience.

If you are traveling to Turkey for the first time, these tips will help make your vacation calmer and more comfortable.

1. Not researching in advance what “land view” means

When choosing a trip, many only look at the room price. But that’s a mistake. The phrase “land view” sounds quite innocent, but it can hide anything.

Sometimes it is a beautiful city view, and sometimes – a noisy street, a utility yard, a parking lot, or a product unloading area.

If a peaceful sleep is important to you, it is better to review tourists’ photos in advance and find out exactly where the room windows might face.

2. Not preparing for early arrival

In many Turkish hotels, the official check-in time starts at 2:00 PM or even 3:00 PM. If the room is free earlier, you may be accommodated immediately, but you should not rely on that.

If your plane arrives in the morning, pack your swimsuit, shorts, beach footwear, and sunscreen so that you can quickly take them out.

Then you can calmly change and go relax by the sea or pool instead of waiting for several hours for the key at the reception.

3. Completely refusing to tip

No one is obliged to give tips. However, in Turkey, it really works.

A small thank you to the staff sometimes helps to get a room faster, improve its location in the hotel, or simply receive a bit more attentive service.

4. Buying souvenirs only within the hotel premises

Many, especially on their first trip, do not dare to go beyond the hotel boundaries. There is really nothing to fear.

Practically every resort has shops, shopping centers, pharmacies, and markets nearby.

And prices there are often several times lower than in hotel shops.

5. Not checking what is near the hotel

A beautiful hotel is not everything. If it is important for you to walk outside the territory, study the neighborhood map and tourist reviews in advance.

If you do not do this before the trip, you may end up in a situation where there is simply nowhere to go: on one side – the beach, on the other – a busy highway.

6. Exchanging currency only at the hotel

Currency exchange offices near the hotel usually offer noticeably better rates.

Newcomers sometimes think that it is better not to do anything outside the hotel at all and are afraid to take an extra step without the travel organizer’s representative’s approval.

In Turkey, it is completely normal to be an independent tourist.

7. Bringing a lot of food with them

Food in most Turkish hotels with an “all-inclusive” concept is not only three main meals but also constant snacks.

It is very hard to stay hungry here. If you are really worried, take a couple of protein bars for the trip or airport.

And the food you bring to the hotel will only spoil or unnecessarily take up space in your suitcase.

8. Buying all excursions only from the guide

Before buying an excursion, it is worth comparing prices and reviews. Sometimes the difference is very big.

The prices of excursions offered by travel organizer representatives are higher, although the trips themselves are often organized by the same local agencies.

In the end, you may find yourself on the same bus with those who paid half as much.

9. Being ashamed to use the “all-inclusive” system

Do not be afraid to order a second drink or take another dessert. The main thing is not to leave mountains of uneaten food on the plates.

It is better to take less and then go back for seconds.

Bar staff do not care how many times you come for coffee or a cocktail – they work to pour drinks you have already paid for.

10. Afraid to travel without knowing foreign languages

In many popular Turkish hotels, staff understand basic foreign languages, so the language barrier usually does not become a problem.

Most difficulties arise when communicating with room cleaners.

If you are worried, use a voice translator on your phone: you say a phrase in your language, and the app automatically translates it into Turkish or English.

It is also worth paying attention to the choice of trips themselves: do not blindly trust only travel agents’ recommendations, as they have not always visited the hotels they offer.

It is worth calmly comparing prices yourself, reading reviews, and watching hotel overviews online.
