US-led negotiations to resolve the conflict have stalled, with Washington shifting its focus to the Middle East and Russia maintaining a strict demand for Ukraine to cede territories.

“I just spoke with President D. Trump’s envoys S. Witkoff and J. Kushner. It was a good, important conversation about how to revive diplomacy and bring peace closer,” V. Zelensky wrote on the social network “X”.

“Peace is needed – peace with dignity, and Ukraine has long been ready for it. Our teams are in close contact, among other things, to continue everything we discussed,” he added.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that he would meet with his US counterpart Marco Rubio in Manila on Thursday on the sidelines of a regional summit to discuss the wars in Ukraine and Iran.

In recent months, Kyiv appears to have slowed Moscow’s grueling offensive in the east and significantly expanded drone strikes on Russian territory, disrupting normal life there in the fifth year of the war.

At the same time, Moscow has intensified deadly missile strikes on Kyiv, launching dozens of hard-to-intercept projectiles as Ukraine struggles with depleted air defense stockpiles.

Russia has repeatedly called on Ukraine to withdraw from parts of the eastern Donbas region it still controls as a precondition for any peace agreement. Kyiv has rejected this demand.

The war has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and become the bloodiest conflict in Europe since World War II.
