The famous athlete representing Sweden also tried to storm the world record in Switzerland. Although he did not manage to improve it this time, he won with a height of 6 m 21 cm, and the victory was hard-fought as Emmanouil Karalis cleared 6 m 16 cm.
Until now, it has never happened that at least two athletes in one competition jumped higher than 6 m 10 cm.
The 26-year-old A. Duplantis confidently cleared 6 m 21 cm but could not feel calm because E. Karalis, who achieved a personal best, was also very close to clearing this height.
Born into a family of former Greek and Ugandan athletes, 26-year-old E. Karalis, an Olympic bronze medalist, world and European vice-champion, twice attempted 6 m 21 cm on Thursday and ended the contest trying to clear 6 m 26 cm.

Having skipped the last height, A. Duplantis tried to improve his own world record. But after two failed attempts to clear 6 m 32 cm, the Swedish athlete gave up on the third jump.
“I felt that I would compete very well, but it was tough,” said A. Duplantis. “I jumped very high because these were probably the most competitive pole vault competitions ever organized.
I had to push myself to the limit, I am very happy that I made several very good jumps, especially one over the 6 m 21 cm bar.”
