Registration for this competition has already started. The organizers of this run encourage actively planning your time and registering without waiting for the last day.
Registration for this run takes place here.
This year the competition will take place on October 10 (Saturday). The opening of the competition is at 12:30 PM.
For participants of the “Amber Nautical Mile 2026” who are under 20 years old and members of the Lithuanian Athletics Federation (LLAF), the start is free if registration is done by 11 PM on October 7 this year.

If registering on October 8 before 3 PM, the entry fee is 5 euros. There will be no registration on October 9 and on the day of the competition.
During registration, choose the distance according to age group and gender: the 0.5 nautical mile (926 m) distance is for those born in 2016 and younger, women/girls run 3 (5.55 km) nautical miles, and men/boys run 6 nautical miles (11.11 km). Everyone can complete the 1 nautical mile (1,852 m) distance.
“I have noticed a trend that every year only two weeks before the start of the competition people begin to register more actively, and in the last days there is a real rush. I invite everyone not to wait and do it right now. Become part of the ‘Amber Nautical Mile’ running celebration,” urged Linas Bružas, chairman of the Klaipėda City Running Club “Amber Nautical Mile” and one of the event organizers, encouraging both active leisure enthusiasts and professional runners to register.
Virginijus Jurgelevičius, president of the Klaipėda County Athletics Federation, who has contributed to organizing this event for many years, was pleased that every year guests come from Latvia, Ukraine, and Poland. Guests from Estonia are also frequent.
“It is also nice that the budget and prize fund of the ‘Amber Nautical Mile’ event have been growing since the beginning of the event and for several years now have exceeded 20 thousand euros annually. Remembering that the budget of the first event held in 2001 was only 5 thousand litas (about 1450 euros), this is a significant leap,” emphasized L. Bružas and V. Jurgelevičius.

The event organizers are the Klaipėda County Athletics Federation, the Lithuanian Athletics Federation, and AB Klaipėda State Seaport Authority. The project is partially funded by the Klaipėda City Municipality. The event is supported by a large group of sponsors – port companies and other Klaipėda businesses.
This event aims for every resident of Klaipėda city and our region, together with runners from neighboring countries, to complete the nautical mile distance – 1852 meters. Professional runners are offered to complete 6 nautical miles (11.11 km), and female runners – 3 nautical miles (5.55 km).
The names of the winners of these distances are immortalized on a memorial stone weighing 10 tons, which was raised from the bottom of the lagoon when the port water area was deepened. Most runners are awarded “Amber Nautical Mile” T-shirts, and all present at the event are treated to military porridge and tea.
The organizers hope that this year over five hundred people will participate in the event, and the unique course will again be a challenge for all participants.

Since the first event in 2001, the “Amber Nautical Mile” has become not only a sporting event but also a tradition of the port city.
It is the only competition in Lithuania where distances are measured in nautical miles.
This unique course runs through the Smiltynė forests, the seaside, and winds along the lagoon, offering a dynamic and challenging terrain: forest paths, sand, moss, and asphalt.
