He confirmed that he received a letter from “Anex Tour” mentioning canceled trips.

“I received a letter stating: ‘Due to optimization of flights to Egypt, Hurghada – we inform you that we will not operate Vilnius-Hurghada-Vilnius flights from July 7 to October 27 (inclusive),’” reported M. Simanavičius.

Although he reacted negatively to this decision, as its consequences will be felt by customers, he also emphasized that this is quite a common practice.

“Flight optimization during the season is a common practice. In that sense, there is nothing unusual here. The operator evaluates the occupancy of the planes and accordingly decides whether to keep that route in their travel selection or remove it. In this case, it was probably decided that it was not profitable,” he said.

Nevertheless, residents who purchased trips to this city will not be left to fate. As M. Simanavičius said, it will be possible to cancel reservations and get a refund or change the destination by choosing another trip.

Changes were also confirmed to the portal by “Anex Tour” CEO Ilker Adiguzel.

“We would like to emphasize that Vilnius – Hurghada is one of our most important routes. Unfortunately, due to war-related circumstances and rising fuel prices, the occupancy on this route was insufficient, and sales results were unstable. To avoid inconveniences for our customers in the near future, we have decided to temporarily suspend operations on this route,” he said.

According to him, flights on this route will be resumed with the start of the winter season.

“Our goal is to make strategically justified decisions and provide clear and reliable information to our valued customers. Considering the current circumstances, flights from Vilnius to Hurghada from July 7 to October 20 are suspended.

For customers affected by these flights, we offer to change the travel destination to Egypt, Sharm El Sheikh, or Turkey, Antalya, or fully refund the payments made for the trip,” stated the “Anex Tour” CEO.
