“Sevastopol was struck at the building of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Air Force headquarters on Gogol Street. As we reported earlier, after the main Black Sea Fleet headquarters was destroyed, the Air Force headquarters was used as the main command and control center,” the statement said.

The Kremlin-appointed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, confirmed the strikes on the city.
“The Ukrainian armed forces attacked the city with various air means, including Storm Shadow missiles,” he said on Wednesday morning.
According to M. Razvozhayev, the missiles damaged a bank building and an “administrative building long out of use” on Gogol Street.
However, the Krymskiy Veter channel, citing witnesses, indicated that the bank building was hit by a missile from the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun system. It is also reported that at the same time the building of the Black Sea Fleet Air Force headquarters was hit, which almost completely burned down.
“There were many Russian soldiers, everything was blocked, a Tigr military SUV was standing, a satellite antenna was raised. Ambulances were still arriving at 11 o’clock. Black bags were being loaded onto a large Ural truck in the headquarters yard. Either items/documents, or those who were in the building at the time of the strike,” Krymskiy Veter writes.

On September 22, 2023, it was reported that the Ukrainian armed forces attacked the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol with missiles. After the explosions, a large-scale fire broke out in the building, and the Russian authorities were forced to acknowledge the attack, although initially they reported only one missing soldier.
According to Ukrainian intelligence and Special Operations Forces, the attack occurred during a naval command meeting, resulting in significant losses among Russian officers.
At that time, the Ukrainian armed forces reported that 34 Russian officers were killed in the strike, including the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Viktor Sokolov, and more than 100 Russians were injured.
Later it became clear that at least V. Sokolov survived and was relatively unharmed.
However, the attack weakened Russia’s potential in the Black Sea. After the attack, the headquarters effectively ceased full operation, and the Russians were forced to relocate part of the command structures to Novorossiysk. In 2026, it became known that due to large-scale destruction, the damaged building of the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol was dismantled.
