V. Putin stated that Europe is currently “pushing its countries into a war with Russia.” According to him, the deployment of a European military contingent on Ukrainian territory would be equivalent to a war with Russia.

The dictator also claimed that Moscow has no grounds for conflict with Europe – all disagreements were supposedly resolved after World War II.

V. Putin’s statement came amid increased activity of the “Coalition of the Willing” – an alliance of about 35 countries, mostly European states, coordinating support for Ukraine. After the coalition meeting held in Paris on September 4, 26 countries agreed to provide Ukraine with security guarantees, including the possible deployment of a military contingent on its territory.

However, according to coalition leaders, such troop deployment could only occur after the cessation of hostilities or the end of the war – meaning that currently, troop introduction is not being discussed. France and the United Kingdom, which chair the coalition, have already stated that they are ready to deploy their forces if necessary.

We remind that the leaders of the “Coalition of the Willing” met in Kyiv on August 24. French President Emmanuel Macron announced large-scale joint coalition military exercises planned for October–November, which should test the readiness of multinational forces to operate after a possible ceasefire.

According to the leaders, such forces could be deployed in Ukraine only after a “reliable cessation of hostilities,” so the discussion is not about immediate troop introduction.
