“To be honest, sometimes I don’t understand why decisions can’t be made quickly,” he added.
The comment came after V. Zelensky announced plans to meet with D. Trump at the end of September, as US-led efforts to mediate an end to the five-and-a-half-year war in Ukraine continue.
Separately, V. Zelensky called for a ceasefire with Russia regarding strikes on energy facilities and stated that Ukraine is ready to retaliate if Moscow attacks his country’s energy infrastructure in winter.
“Russia knows that if it strikes (…), it will get the same back,” he said.
Both Russia and Ukraine have intensified long-range strikes against each other in recent months. Meanwhile, US-led negotiations to end the bloodiest conflict in Europe since World War II remain at an impasse.
Early Friday morning, two people were killed and four hospitalized in a Russian drone strike on a gas station in Kyiv, the city mayor reported.
On Friday, in the village of Yasnohirka in the Donetsk region, a Russian drone strike on an ambulance killed a medical worker and injured two others, while a Russian strike in Dnipro injured 12 people, local officials said.
