A representative of the Fire and Rescue Department (PAGD) Situation Coordination Division told BNS that one man drowned in Palanga in the evening, and another during the day in Telšiai.
“There were two cases of recorded drownings during this period,” said the Situation Coordination Division duty officer to BNS.
Rescuers received a report that a person was drowning in the sea about 50 meters from the shore in Palanga.
“Our forces were concentrated to save the person. Upon arrival, the body was submerged about 50-70 meters from the shore, found at a depth of about three meters, brought to shore by a jet ski, death was confirmed,” the officer told BNS.
The Police Department told BNS that the 17-year-old who drowned in Palanga is a Polish citizen.

“The 17-year-old who drowned in Palanga was born in 2009 and is from Poland,” said department representative Revita Janavičiūtė.
The other drowning victim was pulled out on Saturday in the Telšiai district.
A report was received that a man was drowning near a shelter. When firefighters arrived, a person was submerged about 15 meters from the shore, found, pulled out, handed over to medics, resuscitation was attempted, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful.
According to R. Janavičiūtė, the drowned man was born in 1970.
“The body of the drowned man was found in a pond,” she said, specifying that the body was found around 1 p.m.
