The deceased boxer had won 16 victories, 13 by knockout, when in 2015 he faced Terrel Williams.

The opponent illegally hit P. Colon on the back of the head several times. Although the Puerto Rican reported this to the referee, he allowed the fight to continue, and finally in the ninth round he fell to the ground.

The boxer was helped to walk to the locker room, but there he began to vomit and fainted. After being taken to the hospital, tests revealed a subdural hematoma – a blood accumulation in the head area due to the injury.

P. Colon immediately underwent surgery to reduce brain swelling, and after it, the boxer fell into a coma, in which he remained for 221 days.

However, even after waking from the coma, the Puerto Rican could no longer continue life as before. He could only communicate with the help of a computer and was constantly cared for by family members.

P. Colon’s situation spread throughout the combat sports world – millions of people followed the news about his rehabilitation process. Many believed that T. Williams should have been held criminally responsible for his behavior during the fight, but he avoided serious consequences and was able to continue his career.

Finally, 11 years after the controversially ended fight, P. Colon’s life ended.
