According to the Egyptian Ministry of Health, a vehicle crashed on the Dahab and Nuweiba road. It is reported that in the fatal accident, the bus overturned, according to “The Sun”.
It is still unclear why the bus accident happened.
Local authorities reported that 20 ambulances were sent to the scene. Paramedics provided first aid to the injured and urgently transported several passengers to the hospital.
According to officials, 28 injured are being treated in the hospital. Meanwhile, the deaths of 16 victims were confirmed at the scene. Egypt’s Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stated that all measures are being taken to “provide the injured with the highest level of medical care, supply them with all necessary means and medicines, and maintain constant communication with the relevant South Sinai institutions.”
A ministry representative said: “As soon as the report was received, the central operations center was activated, and 20 ambulances were dispatched to the accident site to evacuate the injured and provide first aid.”

All medical services are working “at maximum capacity to manage the incident very effectively and promptly.” The ministry “expresses sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishes all the injured a speedy recovery,” the statement added. It is still unclear why the bus accident happened.
The southern part of the Sinai Peninsula is a popular tourist destination, known for resorts such as Sharm El Sheikh and diving opportunities in the Red Sea.
Last month in Egypt, at least 18 people died when two pickup trucks collided, many of whom were children. Another 30 people were injured when trucks carrying workers crashed and overturned in the Al-Dawawis area. A large-scale rescue operation was launched – 30 ambulances and police units were sent to the scene. The youngest victim was 10 years old.
