“Sources claim that 111 are buried here, but the area is a bit too small to fit that many people buried here. Yesterday, a couple of residents came who said that everything here has been dug up and we will find nothing,” said Tadas Šimanauskas, an archaeologist from the company “Kultūros vertybių paieška.”

Soviet soldiers are buried in the very center of Vievis, near St. Anne’s Church. Previously, there was a monument to Soviet soldiers, and an eternal flame burned there.
