It was initially planned that four Lithuanian representatives would participate in the qualifiers of this event, but only I. Visockaitė started.
In the first swim in the second lane, the 19-year-old representative of our country finished in 4 min. 23.55 sec., took 3rd place, and did not qualify for the final.
I. Visockaitė’s personal record in this event is 4 min. 19.84 sec.
In this championship, Lithuanians still have two more starts.
At 12:24, Kotryna Teterevkova will participate in the second 50 m breaststroke swim for 9th place against the Russian Ralina Giliazova, who is competing under a neutral athlete status. This position is important as a reserve spot for the final in case any athlete who made it to the top eight cannot participate in the decisive races in the evening.
During the semifinal, K. Teterevkova and R. Giliazova both finished their respective swims in 30.55 sec., and in the swim-off, competing head-to-head, they also recorded an identical time – 30.43 sec.
The women’s 50 m swimming final is scheduled for 19:35, where Rūta Meilutytė will compete for a medal.
