“The full membership of Moldova and Ukraine in the European Union (EU) is our common strategic goal. You can count on continued comprehensive Lithuanian support on this path, expert and institutional assistance in implementing reforms and strengthening resilience, so that this day comes as soon as possible,” the Prime Minister was quoted as saying in a statement released by the Government Chancellery.

According to M. Sinkevičius, the issue of Moldova’s and Ukraine’s EU membership by 2030 is one of the priorities of Lithuania’s upcoming Presidency of the EU Council.

“To achieve this goal, not only rapid and smooth implementation of reforms is important, but also their long-term sustainability,” the statement said.

The conversation also paid much attention to bilateral relations and security issues, as Russia continues its military aggression against Ukraine.

It was noted during the discussion that the greatest long-term threat to Europe and the international order remains Russia, whose hybrid attacks – from airspace violations to disinformation and others – pose increasing security risks.
