“For us, the main condition is – we must achieve our goals,” the Kremlin spokesman stated.

Answering the question of how V. Putin reacted to K.J. Tokayev’s proposal during the conversation, D. Peskov said: “He (Putin – ed. note) told him everything in detail about the special military operation.”

V. Putin’s representative stated that the conditions for ending hostilities were set two years ago by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and allegedly “all this can end today by the end of the day if the Kyiv regime makes appropriate decisions.”

Earlier, the President of Kazakhstan told the Russian leader that the war in Ukraine should be ended and called for “freezing” the conflict.

“How to get out of this situation? No one knows, because there are positions from both sides. However, on the other hand, there is such a moment and an opportunity to freeze all this,” K.J. Tokayev told V. Putin at the Russia-Kazakhstan summit in Omsk, Siberia.

“It’s a pity that young people are dying (…) All this must be stopped,” he added.

Kazakhstan is an ally of Russia, but the country has never expressed approval for Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine, which has caused concern among the Kremlin’s partners in Central Asia.
