“The funeral ceremony of King Harald V will take place at Oslo Cathedral on Wednesday, September 9, at 1 p.m. (local and Lithuanian time),” the official statement reads.

On Friday morning, the 89-year-old King Harald V of Norway passed away. Although he was involved in a series of scandals during his 35 years of reign, he still received great support.
Just before the announcement of the funeral, the palace informed that the king’s coffin, moved from the hospital to the Royal Palace’s Red Salon on Friday evening, will be transferred to the palace chapel on Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday from 2 p.m. (3 p.m. Lithuanian time), members of the public “wishing to do so will be able to slowly pass by the coffin and say goodbye to King Harald,” this will be possible until the eve of the funeral.
The new King of Norway Haakon VIII will also take the oath in parliament on Tuesday.
Harald V was widely regarded as the embodiment of an open and tolerant Norway. He was praised for leading a modern and modest monarchy.
However, in recent years the monarch faced increasing health problems, forcing him to reduce his official schedule.
