The first time in Gintarė Latvėnaitė's life: "I had never done that before"

„In my career, I had never played a mother in any series before. This role was my first of this kind, and my children here are older, although the actors actually play younger than they really are. The most interesting thing was the realistic aspect that for the first time I am playing a mother’s role, and with such big children,“ says the actress.

With Andrius and Lina Talžūnas, who play her children and for whom “Not All at Home” also became a new acting experience, the connection quickly formed beyond the filming set.

„I think you will see in the series how we managed to create that connection. On the filming set, we became very good friends as people, laughed a lot, joked a lot, and I really miss them, I even want to meet up,“ the actress says with a smile.

According to G. Latvėnaitė, there was no shortage of laughter on the filming set, even while shooting the scenes themselves. One episode with actress Vitalija Mockevičiūtė stuck in memory so much that it took five takes to film one phrase.

„There are always situations when laughter starts, but that is very human and makes the work easier, and the inability to film completely becomes a very good time filled with laughter. My happiest memory is from the very beginning, the first episode, when the mother opens the door and there stands actress Vitalija Mockevičiūtė. As she walks through the door, she says one phrase that made all four of us burst out laughing!

It took about five takes just to say that one phrase without laughing, because every time she opened the door with a different intonation, we remembered again what we were laughing at. That is the brightest moment, which we then repeated and laughed about when we met on set,“ the actress recalls.

It was precisely the colleagues who were one of the main reasons that encouraged G. Latvėnaitė to join the new LNK series. The actress does not hide that she knew many team members well and missed them.

„What attracted me the most was that we would have a good team because I know all the people very well. Because of that, I already missed them a bit, I wanted to meet. So without a doubt, that was one of the main reasons why I agreed – good colleagues,“ she reveals.

Speaking about her character, G. Latvėnaitė admits that similarities inevitably arise between the actor and the role they create.

„We all have common traits. I still use my body, my psyche when acting. There are situations where my and the character’s reactions coincide, and there are situations where they do not match at all and I react differently. But you can’t say you’re not similar, because you can’t separate from your body and you don’t become something very different when the camera is on – it is still a part of me,“ she reflects.

And to the viewers of “Not All at Home,” the actress has one simple request – not to take the series too seriously.

„I would wish them to watch our series lightheartedly – with a smile at our jokes, silliness, and playfulness. I think that in the evenings after work, people really want something unpretentious, light, relaxing from the day’s worries, so I hope our series will be such a light moment by the TV,“ wishes G. Latvėnaitė.
