The first autonomous passenger air taxi tested in Kazakhstan

The Chinese company EHang’s aircraft EH216-S flew a passenger over the specially approved capital territory during the “Games of the Future 2026” event. According to the Kazakhstan aviation administration, this two-seater aircraft can reach a speed of 130 km per hour and fly up to 35 km, reports the portal TVP World.

Kazakhstan authorities are considering organizing 5–30 minute sightseeing routes over natural, cultural, and historical sites, while long-term plans include integrating autonomous aircraft into the transport network. Officials also see potential uses for medical delivery, firefighting, search and rescue operations, and logistics.

Larger-scale commercial air taxi services are planned for 2028–2029, depending on certification, regulatory approval, and infrastructure development.
