The previous record of this famous director belonged to his film “The Dark Knight,” which began screening in cinemas worldwide in 2012. At that time, the film’s revenue reached 1.085 billion dollars.
Throughout the director’s career, his films have earned more than seven billion dollars.
It is also noted that “Odissey” became the most profitable film for the actors, especially Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson.
“Christopher Nolan has earned the trust of viewers by constantly creating works that are a must-see in cinemas, and this film is the pinnacle of his mastery. Nolan’s epic film has become the center of cultural life: viewers choose the highest quality formats and want to experience this unique cinematic journey once again,” said Jim Orr, president of Universal Pictures’ film distribution division in the US.
“Odissey” became the fifth film of the year to exceed one billion dollars in revenue. For Universal studio, this is already the third film to achieve such a result – after the films “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and “Michael.”
In 2026, impressive revenue was also demonstrated by the Sony/Marvel Studios film “Spider-Man: A New Day,” which grossed 1.67 billion dollars worldwide in two weeks.
