It seems that even after many years, one of the country’s most famous musicians does not regret this act. Visiting the video segment “Speedy Elevator” organized for the upcoming M1 Music Awards on December 9, and asked how he came up with throwing the statuette into the river, A. Mamontovas said: “I just wanted to give that award some kind of value. The situation was such that the radio station organizing those awards gave me this prize as the best artist of the year, even though I wasn’t even in their top hundred most played artists of that year. So somehow it seemed very strange to me.”

The singer revealed that later, after a few years, one of his friends tried to look for that statuette – he dived for a couple of days in that part of the river with diving equipment but still did not find it.
When asked if he would act the same way in that situation today, A. Mamontovas pondered.
“I don’t know, every age has its own nonsense that we do,” he said.
During the short elevator interview, the singer was also asked if there is any song of his that he released but now regrets.

At the M1 Music Awards, instead of the usual statuettes, the Best of the Year receive a much more original trophy – a chain made of 14-carat white gold with a pendant in the shape of the M1 logo inlaid with a diamond, created by internationally recognized top-class diamond experts “Factory By Ribas.” It is safely “packed” inside a larger pendant of the same prototype. “The M1 pendant is a symbol of creativity, inspiration, and achievements, specially created for the M1 Music Awards, reflecting the well-known logo of this radio station. The original corners – sharp and expressive – became softer in the jewelry so that the shape remains recognizable but harmoniously fits the skin. In designing, we aimed to maintain a balance between the architectural strength of the logo and the jewelry softness. The goal was for the pendant to symbolize energy, courage, and creativity – values embodied by the M1 Music Awards,” said Dana Ribas, founder of “Factory by Ribas.”
This winter, on December 9, the Best of the Year chosen by the nation during the online voting will again adorn themselves with such highly valuable pendants in thirteen nominations. The voting date and nominees for this year will be announced very soon.
